Unother Film Festival is a conceptual film festival held in San Francisco. It is a film festival focusing on the existence of the uneven relationship between the minority and the majority in our society. The project is based on my bullied childhood experiences and my passion for surreal and unfamiliar creatures and figures in movies. Through this film festival, I want to create connections between people and make more people aware that we are different individuals in some situations.
The name Unother comes from the combination of negative prefix “un” and the word “other”. Under this name, I hope everyone and every groups could be included, and unite together.
The selection of the films shown at the festival is based on themes of alienation, surrealism, and unfamiliar figures and creatures.
By using Water ripples and bubbles as our main graphic element, they represent a distorted perception of the minority groups. Here you can see how the image beneath the ripples is distorted.
Gradients blend the boundary between one and another, which ties back to Unother's core idea, to unite.
Besides the advertisements and posters I have made, in order to let more people notice Unother, I have made a distortion filter as one of Unother social media campaigns. Following our special filter, I hope more people notice the festival and check out more information on our official social media account.
On our official website, you can browse the brand's mission, vision, and team members.
